We came across this amazing beach on our tour around the Papagayo Peninsula. Just like Nacascolo and Virador, Cabuyal is a white sand beach with aquamarine water and surf that’s a bit choppy but still calm enough to swim in.

Every beach in Guanacaste is incredible, but Cabuyal has a special sort of magic to it. It’s a place where you can spend a nice day with your family and friends, enjoying a pleasant picnic, get a natural tan and wait for the sun to set. The beach is about 40 minutes from the city of Liberia and about 25 minutes from Playa Nacascolo. Keep these distances in mind if you’re staying close to Liberia or if you’re planning on making more stops on your visit.

There’s also a camping area here as well as parking spots. Although the waves are somewhat heavy, you can still go snorkeling around the beach as long as you’re careful.

Lodging and restaurants are located a few kilometers away. Part of what makes Cabuyal such a paradise is how far it is from the businesses and how close it is to nature. The low vegetation that surrounds the beach offers plenty of spaces to relax or curl up with a good book.

In case you’re wondering about what state the road is in, rest assured that most of it is quite good, though there is an unpaved stretch that isn’t in perfect conditions just before you get to the beach. To avoid any stress, it’s best to come here in a 4x4, especially if you’re visiting in the rainy season.

Once you visit Cabuyal, it’s sure to go on your list of top beaches in our country. If you haven’t been yet, get ready to make the trip and take some of your best beach photos. You won’t regret it!
